Lantern Making evenings at

St Mary's in preparation for Sharrow Lantern Carnival

on April 1st 2018.


Tuesday, Feb 20th, 5.30 - 8.30pm

Tuesday, Mar 6th, 5.30 - 8.30pm

Tuesday, Mar 13th, 5.30 - 8.30pm

Tuesday, Mar 20th, 5.30 - 8.30pm

Tuesday, Mar 27th, 5.30 - 8.30pm

We have volunteers who can get you started on making your own lantern. We have all the materials you'll need.

The sessions are free, but if you can please make a donation (an average size lantern costs about £5).

Children must be supervised by an adult.

Adults must access their inner-child!


The Carnival

Apirl 1st, 2018

The Sharrow Lantern Carnival starts at Mount Pleasant Park.

People gather from 7.30pm and the procession gets going at 8pm. It winds its way around Sharrow and finishes in the General Cemetery with a knees up.

Weekend Workshops

These happen at the Old Junior School on Sharrow Lane

Saturdays and Sundays 1-5pm at The Old Junior School (South View Road, S7 1DB):

-3rd and 4th, - 10th and 11th,
- 17th and 18th, - 24th and 25th,

-3rd and 4th, - 10th and 11th,
- 17th and 18th, - 24th and 25th,
- 31st March

We need you!! Our workshops rely on volunteers; you don't need to know how to make a lantern (we will teach you!)- you just need to be friendly and happy to get stuck in and help new people when they arrive to make a lantern.

We are looking for 2-3 lead volunteers for each workshop and then as many other willing hands as possible. If you are interested please email Lu here:
